He underscored the importance of maintaining fiscal discipline despite the availability of special funds, insisting on prioritizing government spending.
Internationally, Klingbeil seeks to resolve trade disputes, particularly with the USA, to protect jobs in Germany. He advocates for negotiation solutions, extending Germany's hand for dialogue. At the G7 Finance Ministers' meeting, he aims to address aggressive US tariff policies.
Amidst these efforts, Klingbeil is also planning to allow exceptions to the debt brake for 2025 and 2026 to enable more flexible budget management, balancing domestic reforms with global economic diplomacy.
