Wave of Bomb Threats Targets Schools Across Germany and Austria

A surge in bomb threats has targeted schools in Germany and Austria, with over 75 schools affected in Rhineland-Palatinate and Thuringia alone. Similar threats have been reported in Austria, Baden-Württemberg, Berlin, Brandenburg, and other regions. Authorities are investigating the threats as a nationwide phenomenon, suspecting a connection with ongoing Abitur examinations.

Despite the widespread nature of these threats, no explosives have been found, and law enforcement does not consider them a serious danger, though every threat is being thoroughly investigated. The emails containing the threats are reported to be similar in nature, suggesting a coordinated effort. A 20-year-old is currently on trial in Stuttgart for similar offenses.

The threats have caused significant disruption, leading to school evacuations and heightened security measures.
