Saudi Arabia's Enhanced Measures for Hajj Safety

Saudi Arabia is implementing a series of measures to ensure the safety of pilgrims during the annual Hajj in Mecca. With the influx of over 15 million visitors, the country is keen on preventing tragedies like the one experienced in 2024. Measures include planting 10,000 trees to provide shade, deploying drones for surveillance, and applying stringent regulations on visa requirements. Unauthorized pilgrim practices have led to the revocation of 400 company licenses and the sanctioning of 23,000 individuals.

To further enhance safety, Saudi Arabia has recruited over 250,000 personnel and expanded shaded areas. Cooling units and artificial intelligence technologies are utilized to manage crowds and monitor pilgrim movements. These efforts align with Vision 2030, aiming to diversify the economy by boosting religious tourism, which significantly contributes to the national income.

Despite the logistical challenges and rising temperatures, Hajj remains a pivotal spiritual and economic event for the kingdom. The government's commitment to improving the Hajj experience underscores the pilgrimage's importance within Saudi Arabia's economic and cultural landscape.
