However, a staggering 40 percent of these facilities require urgent renovations, with a backlog exceeding 1.3 billion euros. The Left Party is advocating for the federal government to allocate at least one billion euros annually for these essential upgrades.

In Sachsen-Anhalt, similar concerns arise regarding the modernization of swimming pools, which are vital community hubs. The funding gap for these facilities has surged dramatically, now estimated at 280 million euros.
