Germany Prepares for Thunderstorms Amid Promised Midweek Sunshine

Germany is bracing for a weekend of unsettled weather, with the north of the country, particularly Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg, expected to experience showers and thunderstorms. The German Weather Service (DWD) has forecast heavy downpours, particularly around Helgoland and the Schlei. As the weather front continues to affect the region, the night into Sunday is expected to see a decrease in storm activity.

Other parts of Germany, including Hessen, Rheinland-Pfalz, and the Saarland, will also face a wet weekend with showers, thunderstorms, and localised heavy rain. Temperatures in these regions will range from 17 to 25 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern will experience a mix of clouds, regional showers, and occasional sunshine.

Despite the current stormy conditions, a shift is on the horizon. The DWD predicts a weather change with high pressure bringing warmer, sunnier conditions by mid-week. Temperatures are expected to rise up to 29 degrees Celsius, offering a glimpse of summer. However, until then, residents are advised to prepare for continued unsettled weather and potential disruptions.
