Deutsche Post DHL Reports Strong Profit Growth Despite Workforce Reductions

Deutsche Post DHL has demonstrated resilience amid economic challenges, increasing both profit and revenue in the first half of the year. Chief Financial Officer Melanie Kreis highlighted a robust quarterly performance, particularly in the parcel sector.

The rise in letter postage by 10.5 percent at the year's outset contributed significantly to this success. The company reported an impressive EBIT of 447 million euros, reflecting a 38 percent increase compared to the previous year.

Revenue in this sector also rose by 1.8 percent, reaching nearly 8.6 billion euros. This positive trend is attributed to successful price adjustments and structural cost improvements, despite a decline in traditional letter traffic.

Furthermore, the company has confirmed its annual forecast, even as it plans to reduce its workforce by approximately 8,000 positions by year-end. Overall, Deutsche Post's results underscore its ability to navigate through adverse economic conditions while maintaining growth.
