Typhoon Matmo Forces Evacuations and Disrupts Life in Southern China

Typhoon Matmo has unleashed significant chaos in southern China, leading to the evacuation of over 347,000 residents from vulnerable areas. The storm, classified under the highest alert level, brought fierce winds and heavy rainfall, prompting disruptions across various provinces, notably Hainan and Guangdong.

As Matmo made landfall, it posed serious threats of flooding and damage, impacting transportation with numerous flight cancellations in Hong Kong. Although the typhoon has since weakened to a tropical depression, it continues to pose risks as it moves towards northern Vietnam, where heavy rain and strong gusts are anticipated.
