Poland and Germany have taken a significant step in strengthening their defense cooperation. The Polish Group of Defence Companies, PGZ, and Germany’s Rheinmetall have signed a strategic agreement to collaborate on military support vehicles for the Polish Armed Forces. This agreement aims to establish a joint venture that will focus on developing armored technical and engineering vehicles, as well as supporting bridges.
The collaboration between PGZ and Rheinmetall is set to bolster pan-European defense capabilities, tapping into the Polish defense market and enhancing production capacities. The strategic partnership is expected to foster the creation of a European Center for Logistic Support, focusing on innovative solutions and technology transfers.
This initiative is part of a broader effort by the German government to modernize its military capabilities, with plans to acquire 424 new wheeled armored vehicles worth nearly €7 billion. These acquisitions, including scout and infantry fighting vehicles, are slated to begin delivery between 2027 and 2028.
