Report: Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution to halt information flow if AfD involved in state governments in the east

According to a media report, if the AfD is involved in state governments after the upcoming elections in Brandenburg, Saxony, and Thuringia, the respective state offices for the protection of the constitution would be cut off from the information flow of other intelligence agencies.

This decision has already been made due to concerns that the AfD could share information with its federal and regional associations. The AfD is classified as securely right-wing extremist in Saxony and Thuringia, and as a suspected right-wing extremist case in Brandenburg.

This move to halt the information flow is seen as a logical step to prevent any potential security risks associated with the AfD's involvement in government. The elections in Thuringia and Saxony will take place on September 1, while Brandenburg's election will be held on September 22. FDP politician Konstantin Kuhle has labeled the AfD as a security risk and an extended arm of authoritarian regimes like Russia and China, suggesting that providing them with intelligence information would be equivalent to giving it to Putin.

The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution is reportedly preparing for possible AfD successes in eastern Germany and planning to sever information exchange with the affected state offices in the event of AfD's participation in government.
