A recent Russian offensive has destroyed a Red Cross office in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine, targeting the city of Kurakhove. The attack also hit a cultural center housing the Red Cross office responsible for the Marinka district. Fortunately, no staff or volunteers were injured, but equipment and materials were damaged. The Ukrainian Red Cross condemned the attack as a violation of international humanitarian law.
Kurakhove is strategically located west of Donetsk and south of Pokrovsk, a significant logistical hub for the Ukrainian army, which Russian forces are advancing toward. Almost all residents have evacuated Kurakhove.
Simultaneously, authorities in the northern Kharkiv region urged families to evacuate Borova, situated between Izyum and the embattled city of Kupiansk. Kupiansk has faced repeated Russian assaults, resulting in heavy damage and numerous civilian casualties. Initially captured by Russian forces in early 2022, it was later retaken by Ukrainian troops.
Russian troops have been gaining ground in eastern Ukraine for months, reclaiming numerous locations. The fighting continues elsewhere; in Zaporizhzhia, a drone attack resulted in two fatalities, while two more people were killed in Kherson due to bombing, according to regional governors.
The relentless Russian offensives across Ukraine have led to widespread destruction and loss of life, emphasizing the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the region.
