Alleged Right-Wing Attack Sparks Major Investigation
Authorities have launched a significant investigation following a suspected right-wing extremist attack on SPD election workers in Berlin. Raids were conducted across various federal states, resulting in the seizure of mobile phones, propaganda material, and clothing related to the crime.
Eight suspects, aged between 15 and 21, allegedly insulted the SPD members, assaulted them, and attacked intervening police officers, injuring two. The group was reportedly en route to a right-wing demonstration in Friedrichshain, which clashed with a large counter-demonstration.
These individuals are believed to be part of the extremist youth organization 'Deutsche Jugend zuerst', which aims to violently oppose political adversaries. The investigation is being led by the state protection unit of the Landeskriminalamt and the Berlin Public Prosecutor's Office.
Three suspects are currently in custody. The authorities' decisive action underscores the seriousness with which they are treating this extremist threat and their commitment to combating such violence.
