Czech leaders reject EU’s 2040 climate target
Czech leaders have rejected the EU's proposed 2040 climate target, which aims to cut CO2 emissions by 90% compared to 1990 levels. Prime Minister Petr Fiala and Environment Minister Petr Hladík criticized the plan as unrealistic and economically harmful, while MEP Tomáš Zdechovský warned of serious political consequences if it is not withdrawn. The Czech leaders called for clear assessments of the impact on individual sectors and more support from the EU.
